Hair Care Tips: Military Women

Hair Care Tips

Okay, so I found out the hard way on how to take care of my hair since being deployed.I am doing my tour in Afghanistan. So I've learned that the water here is very hard and drying which can be a pain in the butt if you have naturally thick, coarse hair and are trying to retain length, and let your hair grow!!!
My routine is pretty simple:
Wash/Condition with Loreal EverCreme Sulfate-Free Moisture System (love this!) 1x/week
Unless I feel the need to wash again , and my hair feels very dry!!!
I found this for free at the Chapel Mart here and it works & smells soo good and leaves my hair very soft.
Moisturize with Shea Moisture moisturizer and Raw African Shea Butter and seal with Jojoba oil.(Shea butter and jojoba oil can be found at Amazon(dot)com)

Here are all the products that I've found to help my hair since being here. But most I also use when I'm home.I think the Jojoba oil has really helped my hair it leaves it super soft and moisturized and in the morning I just wet my hair with a water bottle and add some African Pride Olive Miracle moisturizer to keep it soft throughout the day.

Hopefully this will keep my hair from breaking and I'll retain my hair length !
I did not bring any heat styling products because for one I didn't want to carry it and risk breaking it and two I didn't know if I would have the time to straighten/blow dry my hair. But to my surprise alot of women did bring heat tools.
On another not my hair texture is 3b-3c, so if you have the same type of hair these products might work for you. I've been natural for 4 years and I am biracial.
I've also been struggling with how to wear my hair, all the military ladies I'm sure can relate.Because the bun gets pretty boring!!!

What products work best for your hair to keep in moisture?
What are some other cute protective styles for women in the military?

Running shoes for women

Running ,

I have this love hate relationship with running. I love it if I consistently do it but I also hate it if I wait to long and lose my cardio fitness and then it sucks to get back into running .By no means do I claim to be a very active runner but I try to at least hit the pavement at least 2- 3 x per week which I have not been doing recently.

Here are the most comfortable running shoes that I found this summer.Super light and comfy and they have cool colors as well. They are the "Brooks pure cadence" running shoe.I get complements every time I have them one.One of the reasons I bought them was because if their fun and bright pink color, and they felt so light weight and supportive.I also love Asics shoes ,I found out about these when I went to boot camp when I joined the military. Nike would be my last choice they are more for weightlifting  and look super cute in my opinion.I don't know if its because I'm a heavy runner or because I run weird but Brooks/Asics are top pick in preventing shin splints.

Here are my top three running shoes.......

Brooks PureCadence Womens Running Shoes

ASICS Women's GEL-Noosa Tri 7

Nike Women's NIKE FREE RUN

I usually run between 1.5- 2 miles on the days that I do run and I try to switch it up between treadmill, track and roads. And after a run I usually will do abs and push ups, what type of shoes would you recommen tha are not too expensive and look really colorful/cute?

Happy running <3,

Scarlett
